When Kenneth Feinberg was appointed to head the Gulf Coast Claims Facility, he met with people throughout the Gulf states to explain his new plan. Mr. Feinberg made lots of promises, and many of them were caught on videotape. We’ve got 3 videos posted here that have many of Kenneth Feinberg’s (broken) promises.
Mr. Feinberg made some comments in the videos that show where his loyalties lie. For example, when talking about BP, Mr. Feinberg said, “Kudos and praise to BP for what they’ve done so far. There is absolutely no sense at all, driving BP into bankruptcy. That would be a disaster, a disaster.”
We believe that the only disaster in this fiasco is the environmental damage to the Gulf of Mexico, and the financial and emotional damage to the people and businesses of the Gulf Coast. BP caused the disaster, and must be required to pay for the damages it caused. Is it a disaster to make BP pay for the damages it has caused? We don’t think so.
Here are some quotes from Mr. Feinberg:
- “I will keep the people that are already working on this program. I will add additional people. But the additional people I add must come from the region. They have to be local people that are trusted, that know their neighbors, that understand better than I ever could exactly what the needs and wants are of the people in this locale.”
